Public Works Divisions

  • Engineering - Performs and oversees the design and construction of Capital Improvement projects, and performs plan checking and inspection for private development projects. 
  • Maintenance - Administers and performs daily maintenance activities involving public buildings, streets, and right-of-ways. 

Public Works Programs

  •  Capital Improvement Programs - A Capital Project is a project that helps maintain or improve a Town asset, often called infrastructure. Key projects currently being constructed in Moraga include the Canyon Road Bridge Replacement Project and the Pavement Management Program, as well as several others.
  • Encroachment Permits - An encroachment permit is required for any work performed in the public right of way.
  • Land Development - Working in collaboration with the Planning Department to oversee private development within the Town. The engineering department’s purview as it pertains to land development includes: public infrastructure (such as roadways, storm drainage, and other utilities) hydrology; grading; construction; and accessibility 
  • Transportation - The Town of Moraga is committed to ensuring safe, reliable and accessible transportation for all - whether by automobile, transit, bicycle, or on foot. The Planning, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation Departments all have a role to play and work closely together to plan for, build and maintain the Town’s transportation network.
  • Other Public Works Programs - The Town of Moraga oversees and participates in a range of other programs.
