Moraga’s Draft General Plan 2040 is now available for public review! This important document provides the Town’s official policies for land use, community design, transportation, economic vitality, conservation, open space, and public safety. The General Plan is a state-mandated document that provides direction for Moraga’s future growth and development. This is the first comprehensive update in more than 20 years.
The Draft update is primarily a “refresh” of the existing Plan, with substantial changes to address emerging issues related to climate change, sustainability, and resilience. The Plan provides new policies relating to topics such as Moraga’s economy, emergency preparedness, and the design of new housing and infill development. The Plan reflects input from hundreds of residents and businesses who participated in the more than 20 outreach meetings that were convened over the course of the update.
Four meetings are proposed to discuss the General Plan, leading to its adoption by the Town Council later this fall. The meeting dates are as follows:
- October 15, 2024, 6:30p.m.: Planning Commission Study Session on Draft General Plan
- October 22, 2024, 6:30p.m.: Planning Commission Hearing on Draft General Plan
- October 23, 2024, 5:30p.m.: Town Council Study Session on Draft General Plan
- November 13, 2024, 5:30p.m.: Town Council Meeting to Adopt the General Plan
All Moraga residents and businesses are welcome to attend these meetings. Opportunities for public comment will be provided.
