This project consists of renovating two picnic areas (group picnic area by the bandshell and reconfiguration of the picnic area by the all-access playground) at Moraga Commons Park to meet current standards for accessibility and general overall improvements. This project addresses 2023 Town Goal #2,6. Improvements include installation of accessible surface; regrade and fill of picnic areas to meet current slope requirements; installation of accessible picnic tables and BBQ areas; and shade trellis.
This project is funded through Prop 68 Per Capita award of $188K; a Rotary Donation of $28k, and MCF Donation of $13k, and a Moraga Park Foundation Donation of $10k. Additional funding (as necessary) will come from Fund 250 Park Dedication (Quimby Act).
As of the end of June 2023, both picnic area foundations are complete. There was an extensive lead time for site furnishings (picnic tables, grills, and shade structure), so the Town is waiting for those to be delivered. The estimated completion of this project is in late summer 2023.
