Emergency Alerts & Community Notifications

The Town of Moraga seeks to keep residents informed of timely news and we do so in a variety of ways.

Residents are encouraged to register for two community notification systems: Nixle and the Contra Costa County Community Warning System (CWS).

Nixle

The Town of Moraga uses Nixle Nixleto provide our community real time notifications such as road closures and community event information quickly and easily. All Lamorinda area residents are encouraged to subscribe for this service, which is free other than data plan fees for mobile phones. The messages from the Town can be sent via text message, email, and over the web.

To subscribe, download the Nixle app, visit Nixle’s website or text your zip code to 888777.  It is quick and simple to subscribe, so please register for this public notification service.

Contra Costa County Community Warning System (CWS)

In addition, Moraga residents should register to receive emergency notifications from the Contra Costa County Community Warning System, referred to as CWS. This system will provide geographically targeted alerts to local residents in the event of an emergency or an evacuation. In the event of an evacuation, CWS is the system will be used to notify residents of the need to evacuate.

To subscribe for these important alerts, visit the Contra Costa County Community Warning System.

Other Community News

The Town’s website is also a source of the latest news.  Users can subscribe to receive news updates, meeting agendas and calendar events sent directly to them (through email or text messages) by registering for Notify Me.  Please note: users seeking real-time alerts and notifications should also register for Nixle and CWS (see above).
