  • At this point, the Town of Moraga does not have business licenses. Currently, the Town does not require or issue them. You are permitted to operate a business from your home. However, you should not be able to tell there is a business being operated from the residence. You cannot have clients come to your home or display a sign advertising the business.

    Please note,: the issue of business licenses is being studied and may change in the future.

  • The Town government cannot get involved in private disputes, but Center for Human Development has a free service for resolving disputes, which is effective in helping people resolve problems. Their number is 925-687-8844, ext. 301.

  • At certain levels noises are detrimental to the health and welfare of the citizenry. The Moraga Municipal Code (Section 7.12) restricts noise levels in residential areas. If you are disturbed by a loud noise in your neighborhood, please call the Moraga Planning Department at 925-888-7040 or the Moraga Police Department at 925-284-5010.

  • No, the Town does not require a permit for yard or garage sales. However, signs advertising for these types of sales must be taken down immediately after the sale is over.

  • Shopping centers are private property and are out of the jurisdiction of local police for parking enforcement. The exception to this is handicapped parking, which local police have the authority to ticket, since it is State mandated.

  • Dogs that bark constantly and disturb neighbors, should be reported to Contra Costa County Animal Control Services at 925-608-8400. This is the agency responsible for enforcing the County’s Barking Dog Ordinance and the Town contracts with the County for this service.

  • Solicitors must register with the Police Department, and are given a permit which they must carry and exhibit on request. They shall not create any public nuisance or disturb the peace and quiet of the neighborhood by the use of loud noise, brilliant lights or any act offensive to the senses.

  • Members of the public who are not members of the Moraga Country Club are allowed to play the course on the first Tuesday of even months. The Range is open on the first Tuesday of each month to members of the public. Remember proper golf attire, because golfers must adhere to Country Club rules and regulations.
