Katie Bruner Appointed as Moraga Administrative Services Director

MORAGA, Calif. (January 23, 2024) Moraga Town Manager Scott Mitnick has appointed Katie Bruner as the Town’s new Administrative Services Director. Katie will bring 17 years of public service experience to this position. She follows Lisa Malek-Zadeh who has been serving as Interim Administrative Services Director since Annie To resigned on October 20, 2023. Katie will begin her new role at Town Hall on February 20, 2024.

The Administrative Services Director serves as the Town’s Chief Financial Officer and provides oversight of the organization’s human resources, risk management, and information technology operations. This position also functions as a key member of the Town’s Executive Team.

Katie currently serves as the Budget and Procurement Manager for the City of Walnut Creek, where she has worked for the past six years. Katie also brings 11 years of experience working for two counties: Six years with Alameda County as a Management Analyst and five years with Napa County as an Analyst. 

Town Manager Scott Mitnick commented that: “Katie’s exposure to working for three well-run California local governments in general, combined with her specific experience in the key components necessary to succeed as an Administrative Services Director, make her an ideal candidate to take on this role. In addition to her technical skills (including budget preparation, long-term financial forecasting, preparing financial reports, investment portfolio management, purchasing, improving technology, etc.), Katie has the necessary people skills to work effectively with Town Council, Department Directors, Town employees, and members of the community.”

When asked to comment on her appointment, Katie responded with: “I am humbled and excited to have the opportunity to work with a visionary and stable Town Council, seasoned Town Manager, cohesive Executive Team, and dedicated group of municipal employees. Moraga is a unique community located in a beautiful setting. I look forward to helping take the organization to the next level as the community celebrates its 50th year of incorporation.”

Katie is a Bay Area native. She earned her Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics from Sonoma State University. She and her family reside in Walnut Creek.
