Biography
Family
David and his wife Tina Brier, moved to Moraga in 1995. David has been a potter for the last 25 years, finding time for his hobby between work and family - and kids' sports and theater performances. His wife worked in the Berkeley Unified School District and for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. His two daughters attended Camino Pablo Elementary, Joaquin Moraga Intermediate and Campolindo High Schools.
Career
David has been a practicing attorney for over 40 years, having served the public as a federal prosecutor for 14 years in US Attorney's Offices in San Francisco, New York, and Tucson. David has broad litigation experience in securities, corporate, accounting, tax, and real estate law.
During the 6 years in the San Francisco US Attorney's Office, David prosecuted white collar crime. He was chosen to be the Chief of the Appellate Section, the Chief of the Criminal Division, and then the US Attorney (when then-US Attorney Robert S. Mueller was sworn in as the FBI Director).
After leaving government service in 2002, David became the administrative partner in the Oakland office of the nationally recognized litigation firm Boies Schiller Flexner LLP (BSF). David left BSF after 10 years and joined his friends in small litigation firms - he now practices with his former BSF partner at the Norton Law Firm.
Appointment
David was elected in 2022 to serve on the Town Council for a term ending December 2024.
