Early Life

Roger Wykle grew up in the small town of Cortland, Ohio and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1984.


After receiving an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy, Roger received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with honors in 1989. Roger also earned a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an Master of Business Administration from Old Dominion University.


Roger served several tours of duty, including Navigator on board Coast Guard Cutters and Commanding Officer (CO) of the Long Range Radio Aid to Navigation Station in Kargaburun, Turkey. In addition, he served as CO of the Civil Engineering Unit in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Upon retiring from the Coast Guard in 2009, Roger served as the Director of Ahtna Engineering Services and as Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Ahtna Government Services. Currently, Roger is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Group, a firm specializing in the execution of Federal, State, and Utility Company projects in a sustainable way. He lives with his wife and two children in Moraga.

Other Involvements

Roger’s volunteer services have included:

  • Co-chair person for the Sony Open Golf Tournament in Hawaii (Hawaii’s largest charity fundraiser)
  • Member of the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Post of the Society of American Military Engineers
  • Moraga Planning Commissioner, January of 2009 to December of 2012
  • Volunteer fire fighter in Cortland, Ohio


Roger was elected to the Moraga Town Council in November of 2012 and re-elected in 2016.
