St. Mary's Road Roundabouts

Special Announcement

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Initial Study and Mitigation Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the St. Mary's Road Roundabout Project has been completed. A 45-day public review period commences on Thursday, December 9, 2021, through Monday, January 24, 2022. The Public can submit their questions or comments to Mark Summers, Project Manager by email at or by phone (925) 888-7038 and by mail to Attn: Mark Summers, Public Works/Engineering Dept. 329 Rheem Blvd., Moraga, CA 94556.

The IS/MD is tentatively scheduled to be presented to Council for adoption at the regular Town Council meeting on March 23, 2022.

October 16, 2018

The Project developed preliminary engineering plans and construction grant application materials for St. Mary’s Road safety improvements at the Rheem Boulevard and Bollinger Canyon Road intersections. The Public Works Department presented an informational update to the Town Council an informational update on the project on October 24, 2018.

September 27, 2018

Two community informational meeting occurred Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 4:30 to 6 pm and from 6:30 to 8 pm in the Orinda Room at the Soda Center at Saint Mary’s College. The meeting presentations addressed feedback collected from two public outreach meetings held in 2017 and breakout stations focused on different aspects of the project for attendees to gain more in-depth information about the project.


July 20, 2018

A community informational meeting occurred on Thursday, July 20, at 6:00 pm at the Town Council Chambers to discuss the proposal to place a roundabout at the intersection of St. Mary’s Road and Rheem Boulevard, and a mini-roundabout at the intersection of St. Mary’s Road and Bollinger Canyon Road. The discussion included:

history of the project, an overview and analysis of the proposed improvements, the benefits of roundabouts, and opportunities for bicycle, pedestrian, and landscaping improvements to the area.

Public feedback is sought and encouraged. There was an interactive question and answer period with the project team immediately following the presentation.
