What the Governor's Emergency Declaration Means to Moraga

On April 19, 2016 Governor Brown proclaimed the existence of a state of emergency, naming Contra Costa as one of eleven counties whose roads and highways were damaged by storms which created “conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property.” The proclamation orders the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to formally request immediate assistance through the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program. The Town’s sinkhole is included for assistance eligibility and Town staff is working with Caltrans as required by statutes to determine the extent of, and to obtain, all available funding to repair the sinkhole.
