Town Of Moraga

Update on PG&E Closure Around Sinkhole

Prior information from PG&E has been changed, with a new start date of today, November 14, for gas repair work in the intersection of Rheem Boulevard and Center Street. The gas line will be permanently rerouted in preparation for, and to avoid conflicts, during next year’s Sinkhole culvert replacement. To accommodate PG&E’s work, the intersection will be closed to traffic on a few occasions during the month of November, weather dependent. The Town will provide advanced notice for dates of closure on electronic changeable message boards. A temporary detour route will be set up to divert motorists through the adjacent commercial parking lots, similar to the traffic detours that were in place in the weeks following the initial Sinkhole emergency. A vehicle and pedestrian detour plan is posted on the Town’s website. The Town advises all motorists to drive slowly through the affected areas. Please remember that the shopping centers are open for business and drivers should always look for, and yield to, pedestrians. This update and all past updates can be found on the Town website’s dedicated Sinkhole webpage. Thank you for your continued patience.
