Town Staff Trained During Real Emergency

Thanks to a generous offer by the MOFD Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, Town staff began the most effective Emergency Preparedness training possible: observing first-hand an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during a real emergency. The Town Clerk shadowed the Liaison Officer at a fire near Bear Valley on a weekend in August and observed other emergency roles. The Town Manager attended an EOC at a 52 square mile fire near Mt. Shasta two weekends ago. Both learned about managing a community instantly created for about 1,000 firefighters and other staff; observed the range of issues that can come up even over a short two-day stay; and experienced the joys of camping during damp cold nights and hot days.
