Town Council Rules and Procedures

The Town Council continued its discussion on how best to select its Mayor and Vice Mayor annually and, in the process, reviewed and adopted clearer rules and procedures for Town Council meetings. After a full discussion, the Council agreed 4-1 to add a new statement in the Council rules that reflects the Council’s desire to ensure all five Councilmembers “fairly rotate” in order to have an opportunity to serve in a leadership role. The rest of the language for election of officers remained unchanged, maintaining Council discretion to select its Mayor and Vice Mayor every December. Other meeting procedures adopted in the resolution included Public Participation; Addressing the Council; Record of Meetings; and Rules of Order to facilitate fair and orderly meetings.
