Town Council Discusses Moraga Adobe

The Moraga Town Council discussed and offered additional suggestions to assist the Orinda City Council in its appeal hearing for the Joaquin Moraga Adobe. The Adobe was built in 1841 atop a knoll with views of Mulholland Ridge and Mount Diablo. The Adobe, at the end of Adobe Lane in Orinda, is now surrounded by residences and the Moraga Country Club golf course. The land surrounding the historic Adobe has been approved by the Orinda Planning Commission for a 13-lot subdivision with the Adobe approved for preservation and use as a private club house for the new development. Moraga officials, Friends of the Adobe and local historical societies are striving to preserve the Adobe, provide public access and potentially purchase the lot in front of the Adobe to preserve the original historic views.
