Town Of Moraga

Sinkhole Repair Construction Approved (June 19, 2017)

On May 15, 2017, the Federal Highway Administration finally authorized the Town to move forward with the permanent repair construction phase of the Sinkhole by replacing the damaged 96-inch culvert channeling Laguna Creek and restoring the roadway intersection. After the Public Works Department completed the bidding process for the Sinkhole Repair on Rheem Boulevard at Center Street project, Town Council received a presentation on the process and awarded a construction contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, McGuire and Hester, to proceed with construction. View the presentation. While the scope and location of this project has obviously been challenging – including securing the federal emergency funding the Town was entitled to – Town staff’s objectives are to complete this project as quickly and efficiently as possible, while minimizing inconvenience and disruption to residents and businesses. The Town will continue to keep the public informed of the progression of this project, including updates to the project’s webpage.
