Town Of Moraga

Protecting Our Waterways with Trash Capture Devices

In 2009, the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board issued a Municipal Regional Stormwater Permit to reduce the discharge and runoff of pollutants into storm drains which lead to creeks, reservoirs, and the San Francisco Bay. By 2014 the Town must reduce the trash that enters our storm drain system by 40%. The Town has installed 30 grant-funded trash capturing devices in existing storm drain inlets at various “trash hot spots” including the Moraga Center, Rheem Center, and Campolindo High School areas. The Town is helping protect the environment by capturing trash before it enters our bodies of water.
