Moraga Sinkhole Repair Update - July 13, 2017

The Town’s contractor, McGuire and Hester (MH), is tentatively scheduled to begin mobilization during the week of July 17 to repair an approximately 130-foot long section of the 96-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe culvert within the Rheem Boulevard and Center Street Sinkhole. Construction is expected to be completed in mid-October, barring any significant utility or weather delays.
Traffic Alert
East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) has begun replacing a major water line along Moraga Way from Orchard Drive to Glorietta Boulevard that is significantly impacting Moraga Way traffic. During peak periods Moraga Way traffic will be routed around the construction area onto the parallel Orchard Road. Please expect delays when traveling through this area. ,br /> On July 17, the Rheem Boulevard and Center Street intersection will be closed to all vehicular traffic. MH is currently placing five (5) Changeable Message Boards at critical junctions throughout Town this week to provide advance road closure warning to motorists. MH will also be placing advance construction warning and detour routes signs. For motorists on the west side of the Rheem Boulevard closure, the detour route from Rheem Boulevard is to Glorietta Boulevard to Moraga Way to Moraga Road. Pedestrian access through the project site will be provided when physically possible.
The Town advises all motorists to drive slowly and safely through the affected areas. Please remember that the shopping centers are open for business and drivers should look for and yield to pedestrians. For additional project information and detour route map, please visit the project webpage.
