Town Of Moraga

Moraga Opposes Legislative Action

On Wednesday, April 23, the Council discussed a recently approved House Resolution (HR29) and its call for legislation restricting contracted services by local governments. The Council voted unanimously to send a letter to Assembly member Joan Buchanan opposing the resolution in the strongest possible terms since HR29 and any future legislation would be in direct conflict with Moraga’s well-documented and cost-effective success in contracting many of its services including the Town’s legal representation, police dispatch, plan check, building inspection, survey services, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) preparation and other services. The Town does not have the financial ability to provide these services in-house.
