Moraga Adobe Update

On October 24, the Moraga Town Council discussed the Moraga Adobe and its proposed 13-lot subdivision in Orinda. Friends of the Joaquin Moraga Adobe gave a presentation about the oldest surviving building in Contra Costa County, built in 1841. The Town Council decided to create a subcommittee to offer suggestions to the Orinda City Council as they consider two appeals to the Orinda Planning Commission’s approval of the proposed development. The Council expressed interest in working with the property developer and Orinda City Council to offer mutually beneficial suggestions to preserve the historic Adobe for public and educational purposes. Town Council discussed a draft comment letter on how best to preserve the Moraga Adobe at its November 14 meeting.
