Lamorinda Partnership Accepts 2017 Project of the Year Award

The Northern California chapter of the American Public Works Association honored Moraga, Lafayette and Orinda with the “Project of the Year” award in the Transportation category for Small Cities/Rural Communities for the “Lamorinda Paving Partnership.” For the first time, the three cities worked together combining pavement projects to bid out which reduced administrative costs, lowered bid prices due to increased quantities and leveraged limited funds. All three cities were committed to reducing environmental impacts through the use of recycled tires in rubberized cape seals and the reuse of existing asphalt in full-depth reclamation treatments. Environmental benefits included reducing greenhouse gasses, recycling material in-place, diverting used tires from landfills, reducing truck trips and reducing construction traffic.
