Town Of Moraga

Joint Moraga-Lafayette Surface Seal Project

On February 24th, 2016, Town Council approved an agreement with the City of Lafayette to partner in a joint surface seal project. The Town and Lafayette were planning to prepare two separate surface seal projects this year. Rather than individually going out to bid on two separate projects, both agencies agreed that they would benefit from cost savings by combining the projects.

On June 13, 2016 Lafayette awarded the contract to apply rubberized cape seals (similar to the 2013 Pavement Repair project) at the following Town street segments :
Blaine Circle (Brookfield Drive to end)
Brookfield Drive (West) (Oxford Drive to end)
Brookfield Drive (East) (Oxford Drive to end)
Fieldbrook Place (Hardie Drive to end)
Hardie Drive (Fieldbrook Place to Camino Ricardo)
Wandel Drive (Sanders Drive to Larch Avenue)

The Town had budgeted $300,000.00 for the Project (plus 15% contingency equivalent to $45,000) for a total amount of $345,000.00.  An additional $121,171.51 (plus 15% contingency equivalent to $18,175.73) for a total amount of $139,347.24 was authorized on June 8th by Town Council to proceed with the work because of a higher than anticipated bid price.
