Development Impact Fees Update

At its February 26 meeting, a presentation from Libby Seifel of Seifel Consulting was given to the Town Council regarding the Town’s current process of updating its development impact fee schedule, which was last updated in 2008. Impact fees are governed by state law to ensure that new development pays its “fair share” of impacts to the Town’s facilities. The Town currently charges impact fees in five categories addressing parks, traffic, storm drainage, public safety and general government. The update will determine if the current development impact fees accurately reflect the cost of needed services and demand from new development, and, if necessary, to identify any needed amendments to the fee program. It is anticipated that the Town Council will discuss initial recommendations in May, with adoption of an updated fee program by the fall.
