Council, Mayor and Ad Hoc Committee Roles and Responsibilities 2019

At the Town Council meeting on January 9, 2019 the Council discussed the need for additional written guidelines regarding Town Council roles and responsibilities. Staff was directed to develop a policy on the formation of ad hoc committees that addresses composition, duties, term, staff liaison, budget and reporting back to the Council. Council also discussed the need for additional policies to ensure that an individual Councilmember does not overstep their authority and requested clarification regarding the role and duties of the Mayor. Staff will be exploring how other jurisdictions organize their policies and return to the Council in the coming months with draft policies for Council consideration.
