Climate Action Plan Implementation Update – May 2019

The Town Council was given an update on the progress in implementing the goals and strategies of the Town’s Climate Action Plan. After considering recommendations from staff, the Council voted unanimously to direct staff to pursue three projects: (1) installing public electric vehicle charging stations at the Town offices and the main Moraga Commons parking lot; (2) installing public water bottle refilling stations with built-in water fountains at the Town offices and the Council Chambers; and (3) undertaking various energy-efficiency lighting and HVAC system upgrades at all four Town properties. The EV charging stations and water bottle refilling stations will be funded by General Government Facilities Impact Fees which are restricted to capital improvements to government buildings. The energy efficiency upgrades will be funded using 0% interest financing with an estimated payback period of 5.4 years. See the staff report and the Town's Climate Action Plan.
