Clearing Storm Drain Inlets to Prepare for Rainy Season

In preparation for the rainy season, the first week of November the Town’s maintenance crews removed accumulated debris, such as fallen leaves, branches, and sediment, from all Town-owned storm drain inlets to minimize localized flooding. This process, which occurs annually, began with a visual inspection of every inlet. If debris was encountered, the Town deployed a high pressure water system to push the debris out of the inlet, through its pipe, and to a manhole structure, where a hydrovac truck vacuumed up the collected debris for proper disposal.
