Canyon Road Bridge Reopened

On Wednesday, November 22, the Canyon Road Bridge was reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The contractor, Myers and Sons, was able to finish ahead of schedule by four days and opened the bridge to traffic eight days early. Town Councilmembers, staff and project partners hosted a ceremony to commemorate the opening. Moraga and Canyon residents attended the ceremony and walked across the bridge prior to its opening. Considering the complexity of landslide damage, significant effort and time to obtain approval for Federal reimbursement and the need to install deep pilings to protect the bridge from future land movement, the bridge was reopened in a relatively short period of time. The Town would like to thank the residents for their patience during this important community safety project. View a quick time-lapse video of the bridge launching.
