Town Of Moraga

Canyon Road Bridge Closure Update - July 13, 2017

The Canyon Road Bridge continues to be closed to all traffic so please use alternate routes. The Town will continue to keep the public informed with updates posted on Town’s Canyon Road Bridge webpage and disseminated via Nixle, NextDoor and About Town. A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section has been added to the project website. Please submit any questions not addressed in the FAQ to publicworks@moraga.ca.us. Thank you for your patience.
Sprint utility has postponed start of work from July 17 to 24 to install new fiber optic conduits approximately 30 feet underneath the Moraga creek bed to relocate their lines from beneath Canyon Road Bridge. Sprint will be using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method which will not require environmental permitting thus expediting their work. Work is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, except for any unplanned emergency work.
Sprint has also notified the Town that their work will take six (6) weeks rather than the reported four (4) weeks as announced in the July 7, 2017 Press Release. Canyon Road vehicular and pedestrian access to and from Constance Place will remain open. Demolition of the existing bridge cannot begin until Sprint has completed their necessary work which means that the anticipated opening of the temporary bridge to traffic is now delayed to early November 2017.
